Who We Are Berkshire Healthcare is a midsize healthcare and senior-services company. We are the largest nonprofit, long-term care company in Massachusetts. We own or operate 17 rehabilitation and nursing facilities (14 in Massachusetts, one in Ohio, and one in Pennsylvania), and Kimball Farms, a lifecare retirement community in Lenox, Massachusetts.
What We Do Our nursing homes provide round-the-clock nursing care and patient-centered rehabilitation services, short-term rehabilitation, and postacute and long-term care. In addition, each facility also offers specialized services—like wound care or Alzheimer's care—designed to meet the specific healthcare needs of the community it serves.
Our short-term patients receive the nursing care and rehab therapy they need to achieve the best possible outcome and return to everyday life. For our extended-stay residents, we provide a safe and supportive environment and attentive caregivers. Our goal is to help our residents remain as active as possible and stay involved in their community.
Kimball Farms lifecare community includes independent and assisted living apartments, and a skilled nursing center. Lifecare residents enjoy the ultimate in retirement living: a carefree lifestyle, gourmet meals served in a restaurant-style dining room, coordinated social activities, and lifelong access to healthcare.
Mission Statement We are a not-for-profit, consumer-centered organization committed to fulfilling the health and residential needs of the population in the communities we serve.
Vision Statement Our exceptional customer experiences and clinical quality will cause residents, families, employees, providers, and community members to always prefer us.
Core Values Compassion, integrity, teamwork, excellence and stewardship.
Quality Commitment Quality First is a voluntary, nationwide initiative created by the long-term care profession to improve quality of care and public accountability within the profession. We’re proud to have signed the Quality First pledge, which is shaped by seven principles: continuous quality improvement, public disclosure, resident/family rights, workforce excellence, community involvement, ethical practices, and financial stewardship. As a company, we were committed to these very ideals long before the Quality First initiative began. We’re pleased, now, to stand with our peers and assume greater public accountability for the performance of our facilities and the profession as a whole.
